Between Sound and Light. A chamber cultural evening of Ukrainian art in Bratislava: painting, poetry, piano, singing, bandura and traditional handmade works.

🎨 🇺🇦 Cultural evening “Between Sound and Light” will open a space for Ukrainian art in Bratislava

On 14 June, a chamber evening “Between Sound and Light” will take place in Bratislava, bringing together Ukrainian artists, performers and teachers. The programme will combine painting, poetry, piano, singing, bandura and traditional handmade works.

The evening will open with an exhibition by Tetiana Didenko, Honoured Artist of Ukraine and a member of the Slovak Union of Visual Arts. Her works will be presented together with lyrical poetry by Halyna Chekhuta, a teacher and author of 14 poetry collections.

Ukrainian music will be presented by Nataliia and Dariia Honcharenko. Nataliia Honcharenko is a piano and vocal teacher, as well as a conductor. Together with Dariia, she will prepare a programme in which piano and singing will be complemented by a short introduction to the Ukrainian musical tradition.

🪕 The musical part will also feature Olha Smorkis, a laureate of all-Ukrainian competitions, who will perform Ukrainian pieces accompanied by the bandura. Artistic recitation will be presented by actress and acting teacher Taisiia Boiko, and the vocal line of the evening will be complemented by Radmila Sterladkina.

At the event, guests will also be able to see handmade works by Alina Arutiunian, as well as works by Alina Kishoyan connected with traditional Ukrainian art.

Guests will be welcomed by Olha and Sofia Sobolevski, who will open the centre’s space for the event and offer visitors a glass of champagne.

An introductory meeting for those who would like to learn more about the bandura is also planned in Bratislava, and a class is being formed for those interested in learning to play this instrument.
